I have been teaching for 14+ years and along the way have come up with a few resources that have worked well with groups of students of different abilities and ages. These are the ones that I have listed in the shop. Give them a go and I'm sure you will find them engaging and simple to deliver. Because after all, life is about working SMARTER not HARDER!!

Pixar short films area great way to introduce and teach a range of topics. They carry underlying messages, and in this film about a young Sandpiper we see ideas around bravery, creativity, persistence and how birds live at the beach with searching for food, living as a flock and interacting with other creatures. This film can be used independently or can compliment a wider activity into studies into the environment, survival, birds and also resilience and adversity. There is a range of fun literacy activity which are highly visual to cater for all learning needs. This includes Including cloze passage comprehension, first to last order, crossword, lots of coloured pictures, short sentence writing and the ability to add and remove sections that suit the needs of your students. Another fantastic Pixar short film with a strong underlying message about bullying, fairness, kindness and returning things that are not yours. This film allows for the teacher to challenge students with some ethical questions while being engaged in a fun literacy activity which is highly visual to cater for all learning needs. Including cloze passage, first to last order, crossword, lots of coloured pictures, short sentence writing and the ability to add and remove sections that suit the needs of your students.

This film has inspired many students and is a regular at schools everywhere as it contains fantastic themes of social and racial prejudice, sportsmanship, teenage pregnancy, commitment and respect. I wanted to make watching this film more educational for my students so I have developed a 10-page printable booklet to complete while watching the film. Ready to print and distribute. No more work needed!! It is a highly visual activity with screenshots from the film to help students identify where they are up to, and what is happening. More importantly, I have tried to connect this true story to students own lives with some moral questions as well. There is some vocabulary, creative writing and inference tasks included. There are a couple of low ability options for students who may have intellectual delays so that they may still complete this task and be involved. This task can be completed in one sitting or spread out over several lessons. I have used it both ways and they have worked very well.

Revision… Test Preparation… We all want to get students ready to do the best they can when it counts at exam time. This can help!! This zipped file contains 2 PowerPoint’s that have a range of questions and examples for students who are doing revision for their HSC PDHPE Study. The content covers most of Core 1 for this subject and could be worked through in class, or distributed to students to work through on their own. There are some Focus Questions documents as well which give more specific guidance around practice for exam questions for this subject area.

Look no further!!! This highly visual booklet of 34 pages is a resource that will have your students understanding and working on the topic of Food in (and from) Australia. Some of the topics covered include Bush Tucker, European influence on food, economic factors, historical summary of food in Australia, Influences on food selection, food habits and the evolution of Australian cuisine. To make sure that all the information that you are talking about is correct and to save you valuable time. I have included the answer booklet as well! In addition to all of the above, there is also a survey for students to take home and do with their families so they can include numeracy into this unit with data and graphing of results. This was done as an assessable task. Please don’t think that this is just a Q+A type workbook. There is a range of visual opportunities for students to show understanding, cloze passage activites, online research, survey, links to online films to answer questions about. For those in NSW this unit is built around the Focus Area of Food in Australia and covers the outcomes: 5.3.2 justifies food choices by analysing the factors that influence eating habits 5.5.1 selects and employs appropriate techniques and equipment for a variety of food-specific purposes 5.5.2 plans, prepares, presents and evaluates food solutions for specific purposes 5.6.1 examines the relationship between food, technology, and society
